Cookie Policy
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by websites you visit. We also use browser localStorage — a similar mechanism that stores data locally in your browser without an expiry date, until you clear it.
2. Cookies and storage we use
XBMS uses only functional storage — no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics cookies are used.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
xbms.language | localStorage | Stores your selected language preference (en, nl, de, fr, it) so the site displays correctly on your next visit. | Persistent (until cleared) |
This storage item is strictly necessary for the language functionality of the site. No consent is required under Dutch / EU law for strictly necessary storage that does not track or profile users.
3. What we do not use
- Analytics or tracking cookies (e.g., Google Analytics, Matomo)
- Advertising or retargeting cookies (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Pixel)
- Social media tracking pixels
- Session cookies beyond standard server infrastructure
4. Third-party resources
Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser requests a font, Google may receive technical data including your IP address and browser type, subject to Google’s Privacy Policy . We use the font-display: swap strategy and preconnect hints to minimise data sent.
5. Managing your preferences
You can clear localStorage and cookies at any time through your browser settings:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Clear Data
- Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Clearing xbms.language will reset your language to your browser’s default language on the next visit.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our site evolves. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
